UPSC Geologist Syllabus 2017

On year-to-year basis this Geologist and Geo-Scientist exam is being conducted by UPSC. This year (2017) scheduled notice for this exam, has vast number of opportunities for PWD persons. Individuals with academic background in any of the 20 disciplines (approx) are given permission to compete under this exam, which are Applied Geology, Engineering Geology, Analytical Chemistry, Marine Geology, Exploration Geophysics and so on. UPSC Geologist Syllabus covers some of the topics related to testing of English knowledge (science graduate standard) and most of the sections will be from subject related (M.Sc standard). Certain eligibilities that will be considered for this recruitment are,

  • Qualification: Master Degree/ M.Sc
  • Age Limit: 21 to 32 years (35 years for Hydrogeologist)
  • Selection Process: Written Exam and Interview/ Personality Test

First through this exam maximum number of appliers will be shortlisted, to a reasonable limit. Next those shortlisted individuals shall be invited for personality based test, in which aptitude, social awareness, management skills, etc. of contestants will be judged. Those who are convincing selection panel with their brilliant answers can score good mark in interview round. This is not an objective type exam i.e. test is purely conventional with questions on official language and domain/ subject related. Answers should be written in English only, using ink pen. UPSC Geologist Exam Pattern 2017

In participants own handwriting, questions should be answered on essay format. For each paper/ subject, 3 hours time will be given to competitors. If contestant is a blind/ locomotor disability/ cerebral palsy person, then extra 20 minutes will be given to them, per hour. Cut-offs to qualify in this exam will be fixed only by Commission, on subject wise or overall. Candidates who had attended all the four papers (including general) shall only be taken into account, for evaluation.

  • UPSC Geologist Exam 2017 is descriptive type and offline based.
  • Total time for which exam will be conducted is 12 hours
  • Maximum mark for which exam is planned is 700.
  • Cut-off marks will be set only by UPSC, later.

UPSC is conducting this exam now to occupy the 138 positions like Geologist, Geophysicist, Chemist, Junior Hydrogeologists existing under Geological Survey of India and Central Ground Water Board.
