UPSC Geologist Exam 2017

The exam conducting authority UPSC is India’s central agency that conducts various examinations for doing appointments in different government cadres across country. Similarly now a combined exam is planned by this authority for appointing right persons in Geologist and Geo-Scientist positions, under reserved SC/ ST/ OBC/ PH categories.

This recruitment based exam will be organized in about 19 different centres like Trivandrum, Allahabad, Jaipur, Chandigarh, Delhi, Patna, etc., on first-apply-first allot basis. Age Limits: Minimum applying age of this entire Group-A jobs remains same. But the upper will differ based on position. Candidates who had not attained the upper age while computing as on 1st January 2017 can apply for this UPSC Geologist Exam 2017.

  • Minimum applying age: 21 years
  • Maximum applying age of Junior Hydrogeologists post: 35 years
  • Maximum applying age of Category-I jobs: 32 years

Age Relaxation: As per government orders, following categories are eligible for getting relaxations in upper age. Individuals who are claiming for this relaxation must produce necessary document proofs, while coming for interview process of selection.

  • SC/ ST/ J&K Domiciles: 5 years
  • Ex-Serviceman/ Commissioned Officers/ ECOs/ SSCOs: 5 years
  • OBC category: 3 years
  • Blind, Deaf and Orthopedically Handicapped: 10 years

Selection Process: After reception of all applications, the admission certificate to participate in this combined UPSC Geologist Exam 2017 will be updated, atleast three weeks before exam date. Written Examination: Depending upon posts the syllabus will vary. All questions will be of conventional (essay) type. Answers must be written in English only. Some of the disabled category persons will get extra time to finish exam.

Total Time for Exam: 12 hours (i.e. 3 hrs for each section)
Maximum Marks: 700 (i.e. 100 for general and 200 for each other papers)

Interview/ Personality Test: This round carries about 200 marks, which will be given on examining competitor’s social qualities, leadership skills, intellectual curiosity, conduct, aptitude skills, etc.

Merit List: Final merit list for doing appointment in respective government cadres will be determined on seeing the suitability of each contestant for the posts i.e. exam and interview marks will be taken into account. Those who are ranking high interms of overall marks shall be indulged in respective posts.

How to Apply for UPSC Geologist Exam 2017

Offline payment can be done by remitting fee in any SBI branch as cash and online payment can be done by Net Banking facility available in concerned website. The steps to be followed for doing this registration are given down.

  • Open the UPSC website
  • Choose “Online application for various examinations of UPSC”.
  • Against the concerned post, click the “Part-I Registration” link first.
  • Enter the asked basic details and check & correct it.
  • To proceed further, click on “Continue” button.
  • Then after completion of part-1 registration, take printout copy of concerned page.
  • Candidates who are willing to do payment through offline mode should have to download the pay-in-slip.
  • After doing payment in bank, login again to proceed for Part-II registration.
  • Payment details, centre selection, uploading of photo & signature and agreeing the declaration should be done.
  • For offline payment, SBI payment gateway can be used by appliers.
  • If entire application submission process is completed, a message will be sent to your email id.

It is rememberable that, application submission process does not finish here. After declaration of written exam results qualified candidates will be asked to submit the Detailed Application Form (DAF) online. Individuals who are properly sending the printout of DAF and requisite attested copies of credentials shall only be invited for interview.
