SSC LDC 2017 – Apply for Departmental Examination

SSC LDC 2017: Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is going to conduct one competitive Departmental examination, for Lower Division Clerk (LDC) posts. This exam is meant only for persons who are serving as Group ‘C’ employees in various government offices across India. So outsiders no need to apply for this SSC LDC 2017. Either in Hindi/ English, candidates can attend the test. Willing aspirants can submit applications for this exam through concerned cadre controlling authority before deadline. The participating organizations details and other terms & conditions are given below.

SSC LDC 2017

Staff Selection Commission (SSC) is the recruiting agency of Indian Government. It also conducts departmental/ promotion based exams whenever required. Now for some of the offices like Central Secretariat, IFS, Railways, etc. government has planned to organize promotion based LDC grade limited exam on end of July 2017. Individuals serving in these organizations can submit applications to participate in SSC LDC 2017, if found eligible. The cadre-wise available number of vacancies is not announced till now. But candidates applying from one cadre will not be placed on another cadre, if qualified. Typewriting skill is very essential to serve in this designation. Selected candidates might have already passed one type writing exam that is conducted by SSC. Otherwise hired aspirants must pass the concerned exam within 1 year of appointment in LDC post (i.e. probation period).

Necessary Education: Serving candidates who had passed the Higher Secondary examination from recognized board or institution on or before 1st August 2017 can apply for this departmental examination for LDC posts.

  • 12th pass

Requisite Experience: Individuals serving in any of the above listed services as a Group ‘C’ employee must have worked for years on respective cadres by receiving monthly salary with a grade pay of Rs.1800/-.  By asking permission from competent authority, candidates working as a deputation/ transfer basis employee can also compete under this SSC LDC 2017 selection.

  • Minimum experience required: 3 years

Age Limit: Employees who had not crossed 45 years of age while computing date of birth as on 1st August 2017 are eligible to write this departmental examination. But if aspirants desiring to apply for this test belongs to SC/ ST category, then they will get usual government relaxation as follows.

  • SC/ ST candidates: 5 years relaxation

Selection Procedure: Applied candidates will be issued with admission certificates to participate in the departmental exam that is planned for 200 marks. The exam will be conducted as two papers, in morning and afternoon sections. First paper consists of questions of essay and the second paper consists of questions related to language and general knowledge.

Depending upon the performance of participants in test and by seeing the number of competitors, Commission will fix minimum qualifying cut-off for each paper. Those who are ranking high in this exam shall only be considered for appointment on LDC posts, in respective cadres.

  • Written, Computer Based Exams

Pay Scale and Salary: By qualifying in this departmental exam with good marks, contestants will be appointed as a Lower Division Clerk in respective cadres on a salary scale of Pay Band-1. Grade Pay and other allowances would be provided as applicable to designation and as per government orders.

  • Salary Range: Rs.5200 20200/-
  • Grade Pay: Rs.1900/-

How to Apply for SSC LDC 2017

Interested aspirants download the blank application from SSC website ( and duly fill it. Or else by referring the format, type the same in an A4 size paper with double space (on one side). Application should be filled in appliers own handwriting and signature of candidate should not be in capital letter.

Application should be sent on time to “Regional Director (NR), Staff Selection Commission, Block No. 12, CGO Complex, Lodhi Road, New Delhi – 110 003” through proper channel, by attaching one passport size photograph (as pasted in application). Otherwise applications will not be accepted.
