SSC CGL Exam 2018 and Selection Process

There will be no interview. Only exam will be conducted on various tiers. The different tiers of SSC CGL Exam 2018 and its details are listed below.

  • Tier-I CBT Exam: This is the first round of SSC CGL Exam. All eligible applicants will be allowed to participate in this exam.
  • Tier-II CBT Exam: Aspirants qualifying in Tier-I CBT exam shall be invited for the Tier-II CBT Exam, by issuing admit cards.
  • Tier-III Exam: Individuals those who are scoring good cut off marks in Tier-II CBT exam shall be shortlisted and invited for Tier-III Exam. The Tier-3 exam will be of descriptive in nature.
  • Tier-IV Exam: For Tax Assistant posts (Central Excise & Income Tax), skill test will be conducted and for Assistant Section Officer (CSS, MEA), Assistant in SFIO and Assistant (GSI) in M/O Mines etc, Computer Proficiency Tests will be conducted.
  • Document Verification: After all the above said exams, based on the available number of vacancies particular number of candidates will be invited for document verification. Candidates those who are submitting all requisite documents shall be considered for final selection.
  • Physical Tests: For the post of Inspector (Central Excise/ Examiner/ Preventive Officer/ Inspector & Sub-Inspector in CBN) and for the post of Sub- Inspector in Central Bureau of Investigation, SSC will also conduct physical tests like height, weight, chest measurements, cycling etc.

SSC CGL 2018 Exam Pattern

SSC CGL Tier-I Exam Pattern 2018: Tier-I exam shall be conducted for a duration of 2 hours. Moreover, visually challenged candidates can get extra 40 minutes along with the above mentioned time.  Question will be asked from the below mentioned section.

  • General Intelligence (Reasoning) – 50 marks
  • General Awareness – 50 marks
  • Quantitative Aptitude – 50 marks
  • English Comprehension – 50 marks

SSC CGL Tier-II Exam Pattern 2018: Depending upon posts, the Tier-II SSC CGL 2018 Exam Pattern differs. For most of the posts, questions will be asked only from following topics.

  • Quantitative Abilities – 200 marks
  • English Language & Comprehension – 200 marks

In case of Assistant Audit Officer post, along with the above papers candidates should take a test for 200 marks in their respective subject as follows.

  • Quantitative Abilities – 200 marks
  • English Language & Comprehension – 200 marks
  • General Studies (Finance & Economics) – 200 marks

For Junior Statistical Officer posts, exam will be conducted for 600 marks. The topics from which questions will be drafted for this exam are given below.

SSC CGL Tier-III Exam Pattern 2018: This exam will be conducted for a total duration of 60 minutes. Candidates have to answer for the questions in descriptive manner on OMR sheets.

  • English/ Hindi Essay Writing, Letter Writing etc – 100 marks
