RRB ALP 2017: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) of Indian Government had released one centralized employment notice in January 2017. Circular says there are more than twenty thousand vacancies existing in its various zones across country, for Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) and Technician positions. A common written examination is going to be conducted to occupy these places with suitable ITI/ Diploma holders. RRB ALP 2017

Male/ Female citizens who are ready to work in any shifts/ railway units allotted by Railway Administration can apply for this ALP Exam 2017. For some of the category posts, security deposit and bond will also be executed.

  • Both male and female citizens can apply.

About 21 RRBs are participating in this examination. The function of this exam conducting board is to recommend the names of suitable candidates for appointment as ALP/ Technician in railway administration, after successful implementation of RRB ALP 2017.

Training is the initial stage of ALP and Technician appointments. During this period stipend shall be given on monthly basis. On successful completion of training, in a scale of Pay Band-1 salary and other admissible allowances will be provided.

Eligibilitiy Criteria

(i) Qualification: Apprenticeship or Industrial Training Institute certificate approved by NCVT/ SCVT on relevant trades should be possessed by appliers. Diploma or higher Engineering qualification is also found suitable for ALP and some of the Technician posts. (ii) Age Limits: There are minimum and maximum age limits to apply for this RRB ALP 2017. The minimum age limit indicated below is common for all categories, but the ceiling age is applicable for General category. Cut-off date for calculating ages is 1st July 2017.

  • Maximum age of Widows/ Divorced Woman (UR) – 35 years
  • Maximum age of Railway staff/ Casual Labour & Substitutes (UR) – 40 years
  • Maximum age limit (Others)30 years

(iii) Age Relaxations: Individuals coming under following classifications can appeal for relaxations in ceiling age, by producing proper document proofs. The concessions that will be given for reserved categories as per government orders are,

  • For SC/ ST/ J&K Domiciles: 5 years
  • For OBC persons: 3 years
  • For Ex-servicemen: Service in Defence Force + 3 years
  • For PWD category: 10 years

Selection Process

RRB will conduct a Written Examination commonly for ALP and Technician posts. Approximately 100 to 120 questions shall be asked in this objective type test. Maximum time given to complete this test is 90 minutes. The topics from which questions shall come are,

  • General Intelligence & Reasoning
  • General Science
  • Technical Ability

Based on written exam performance contestants will be shortlisted to a reasonable limit and appliers of ALP posts shall be called for Aptitude Test followed by original certificate verification and appliers of Technician posts shall be called for certificate verification only.

A merit list will be prepared by the board and candidates whose names are in the list will be invited for medical fitness checkup by Railway Administration. In the order of merit and preference mentioned by participants in application, selection will be done.

How to Apply for RRB ALP 2017

Examination Fee: The male candidates coming under Unreserved/ OBC categories have to remit the examination fee for this recruitment. In the form of bank draft or Indian Postal Order drawn on favour of concerned RRB’s “Assistant Secretary/ Secretary/ Member Secretary/ Chairman”, fee can be remitted.

After getting draft, write applicant’s “CEN No., Category No., Name and Postal Address” at the reverse side. Another way to remit fee is doing electronic payment at any of the Computerized Post Offices across India.

Applying Manner: On an A4 size bond paper of 80 GSM take a printout copy of application format that is given in relevant RRB website/ Employment Newspaper. Now fill the application in English/ Hindi without any mistakes. Signature should also be in English/ Hindi in running letters.

Against the Option column in application candidates can mention the category of posts under RRB which they like to enter most, in the order of preference. A colour photograph should be pasted in the space provided and candidates must put their left thumb impression on application.

To get considered for the RRB ALP 2017, aspirants should also have to write “Application for the Post of __________Category No. __________ Centralized Employment Notice No. ___________ and Community” on top of envelope containing application.

Application can be dropped in the box kept at relevant RRB or can be sent through postal mode. Serving government/ PSU employees should apply through proper channel to the relevant RRBs. Address for applying is given in official notice.

Don’t submit more than one application in the same RRB. The documents copies that should be sent along with the completed application and bank draft/ fee receipt are listed down.
