The appointment is purely based upon the marks obtained by them in the online examination only. For the past few years, IBPS cancelled the interview process for Clerical post alone. At first, a preliminary exam will be conducted for reducing large number of aspirants appearing for the upcoming process.

IBPS Clerk Exam Pattern and Procedure:
The IBPS Clerk Examination will be conducted in two phases i.e. Preliminary Exam and Main Exam. Both are objective type exams which would be conducted through online mode. The exam pattern for both the exams are given clearly in the below section.
Preliminary Exam: The preliminary examination consists of 100 objective type questions where each question carries one mark. In this exam ¼ of the mark would be reduced for every wrong answer. One hour duration will be given to complete this exam. The subjects and marks for this exam are listed below.
- English Language – 30 marks
- Numerical Ability – 35 marks
- Reasoning Ability – 35 marks
Main Exam: In this exam, there are totally four sections. Separate time fill be given to finish each section. Each section comprises of 40 & 50 questions and there will be a total of 200 questions. This examination would be conducted for a total duration of 160 minutes. Candidates should try to answer maximum questions within that given time.
- Reasoning Ability & Computer Aptitude – 60 marks
- General English – 40 marks
