IBPS started conducting Clerk exam from 2011 onwards. Common Written Exam for Clerical posts has two phases. One is preliminary and the other is main. IBPS Clerk Prelims Exam Analysis

For IBPS Clerk Preliminary Exam 2017, questions will be asked from three varied topics like Reasoning, Numerical Ability and English Language. About 100 questions will display, but only 60 minutes will be given. Within this time, candidates have to find answers for questions as much as possible. After 60 minutes the link will automatically disable, because exam will be conducted in online mode.

Last year the IBPS Clerk main exam has been conducted with 200 questions drafted from Reasoning, English language, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness and Computer Knowledge. This year, the IBPS Clerk exam pattern has been totally changed i.e. topics are almost same but the number of questions and exam duration has been altered. Yes from General/ Financial Awareness, General English, Reasoning Ability & Computer Knowledge and Quantitative Aptitude about 190 questions shall be asked. Within 160 minutes aspirants have to finish the main exam. For each section of questions, there is a separate timelimit.

Overall Analysis of IBPS Clerk Prelims and Main Exam

Prelims exam is the screening test, so while comparing main exam usually the questions will be somewhat easy. Main exam marks shall only be taken into account for preparation of final merit list of appointment. So every year the main exam is a difficult attempt to all competitors.

Last year most of the candidates said that the questions were not that much difficult as expected, for prelims exam. But those aspirants while attending the main exam faced lot of struggles to answer questions. Most of them thought, the prelims exam topics and main exam topics are somewhat same, so questions will be easier to answer as like prelims. Here what, they committed mistakes.

Because in IBPS Clerk Main Exam 2016 most of the topics from which questions are drafted for prelims exam are not involved in main exam. Notable topics are simplification, inequality, miscellaneous, etc. Also some of the aspirants didn’t done proper preparation and came for exam. That’s why they have loosened marks. Other reasons said by examinees of IBPS Clerk Exam 2016 are,

  • There were lots of changes in questions asked on English section (especially fill in the blanks, para jumbles, etc).
  • Questions are tricky & and the options were too confusing.
  • No Syllogism questions are asked last year.
  • Sectional time allotted for main exam, etc.
