Required Qualification: Candidates who have completed degree in any discipline from a government approved institute or university are eligible to apply for UPSC IAS 2018 Exam.

UPSC Civil Service Exam 2018 and Selection Methodology
The recruitment process for these Group A and B civil services posts consists of three stages viz. Preliminary Exam, Main Exam and Personality Test. Preliminary exam acts as a screening test for eliminating large number of candidates appearing in main examination. Those who qualify in UPSC Civil Services 2018 prelims exam, will be given with admit cards for main examination. Based on contestant’s mark in main exam, on merit basis he/ she would be invited for Personality test. The marks secured by candidates in main exam and interview will be taken into account and a final merit list will be prepared for appointment.

UPSC Civil Services Exam Pattern 2018
Group A and B civil Service exam comprises of two successive stages. The first stage consists of objective type exam paper (i.e. prelims) and the second stage comprises of descriptive test as well as personality test (i.e. Main Exam & Interview). We shall see about it elaborately in the below section.
Preliminary Exam: This examination will comprise of two objective type papers. The minimum qualifying mark for Paper-II is 33%. For each paper you will get two hours time.
- General Studies (Paper-I) – 200 marks
- General Studies (Paper-II) – 200 marks
Main Exam: Those who are qualifying in the prelims examination are required to appear for main examination. This examination includes written test and interview. The written test comprises of nine conventional essay type questions.
- Paper-A – 300 marks
- Paper-B – 300 marks

- Paper I: Essay – 250 marks
- Paper II: General Studies-I – 250 marks
- Paper III: General Studies-II – 250 marks

Application Fee: Aspirants have to remit the application fee through online modes such as net banking, credit or debit card. You can also remit your fee using pay by cash mode (using slip generated after online application submission).

Applying Procedure for IAS 2018 Exam
Aspirants who are fulfilling the eligibility criteria of IAS Exam 2018 can submit your application before last date through UPSC website. The general instructions to apply online are given below.
- Go to the official portal of UPSC i.e. “www.upsc.gov.in”
- Read UPSC Civil Services Exam Notification 2018 carefully
- Click on “Apply Online” option in the home page
- Hit “Online Application for Various Examinations of UPSC” link
- Currently active exam notifications will display with apply online links
- Now, hit on the “Part-I Registration” link of relevant exam and read the instructions
- Click “Yes” tab to continue further
- Fill the form with basic details and submit it
- You will get a registration id. Using that login and proceed to do Part-II registration
- Upload the scanned copies necessary documents, photo and signature
- Select the mode of payment and do the transaction
- Preview the feed details twice before clicking the “Submit” button
- Finally take printout copy of submitted application
- Candidates chosen offline payment mode can download the pay-in slip and remit the fee in concerned bank on very next working day
