The high court at Calcutta is formerly known as the high court of Judicature at fort William. It has the distinction of being the first High Court and one of the three Chartered High Courts to be set up in India. As per the notification unveiled by this court, there is a need of Graduates with relevant skills to handle the depositions of witness, judgments, orders etc, These vacancies will be filled on regular basis only, since the appointment will be initially considered temporary.
Keep in mind the appointments would be terminated at any time, on one month prior notice. Educational Qualification: Particularly, those who are graduated from Calcutta University or Statutory Indian University shall be required to submit your applications in due course. Skill in shorthand is mandatory, as the appliers should have a speed of atleast 160 words per minute and transcribe of 40 words per minute.

Applicants should also have the extra knowledge of vernacular of the State of West Bengal as well as fluent in English language.
Age Restriction & Relaxation: To fulfill all the eligibility criteria, candidates must be in the age group given below. However, extension in age limit is given to the candidates who fall under SC/ ST category.
- Age limit for general category – 18 to 32 years
- Upper age for High Court Employees – 40 years
- Age relaxation for SC/ ST category – 5 years
Recruitment Method: The recruiting team of Calcutta High Court had planned to conduct a competitive test. Selection and appointment would be purely made on the basis of marks obtained in this test only.

Salary Offered: In the existing pay band 4A, those who are offered with employment under the post of Assistant Registrar will be paid with monthly salary. It will also be included with Grade pay, special allowance and other allowances as admissible under the rules.
- Pay scale for Assistant Registrar – Rs.15600-42000/-
- Grade Pay for Assistant Registrar – Rs.5400/-
- Special Allowance for Assistant Registrar – Rs.200/-
Examination Fee: By using the bank challan, applying persons have to remit the exam fee. This prescribed amount should be drawn in favour of Registrar, High Court, O.S. being A/C no. 0091010372343 (High Court Branch), payable at UBI.

- Exam fee for SC/ ST/ PWD category – Rs.75/-
Howbeit, the employees of Calcutta High court as well as the exempted categories are waived from the payment of exam fee. The exempted categories meant here is, whose names are recommended by the appropriate authorities.
